June 2012

This month has been super busy! Aspen especially has had a lot going on! At the first of the month she started JumpStart for Kindergarten.

Today was her last day and she absolutely loved it! We found out just last week that the teacher she has had for JumpStart is going to be teaching at the same school she will attend in August. Aspen is sure hoping that she will get to have Mrs. Olds again as her teacher. She just loves her to pieces! Also, this week was Aspen's last T-ball game. She has gotten to be quite the little player! Seh had a lot of fun and now next year wants to not only do T-ball, but wants to add soccer too.
On June 2nd we had an addition to our extended family. Jared and Mary welcomed Jade Isabelle to their family. She is such a little doll! The girls were so excited to see her and get to hold her! Holding her definitely made waiting for out little guy to arrive a LOT harder!

As of the 9th of this month I was 37 weeks pregnant and definitely feeling it!

My mom threw me a baby shower that day at her house. It was so much fun! There were a lot of different things going on that day so I was definitely grateful for the people that were able to make it to the shower.

The next weekend, the 16th, I got to go use my Mother's Day gift from Brevin and the girls and go get a massage and my hair done. It was a very relaxing day even though I got nauseous during my massage.
The next day was Father's Day and we went to church and visited both grandpas to give them a little Father's Day treat from the girls. While we were at Grandpa Johnson's house the girls wanted to go on a bike ride. So, we walked while the girls rode around the loop at Grandpas house...twice. It probably ended up to be about a mile or so by the time we were done and I was definitely feeling it! We left their house for home at about 8:00 and in the car ride home I started to have some contractions. Nothing too consistent, but I was feeling them. When we got home I decided to go lie down and rest to get the contractions to stop while Brevin got the girls into bed. However, the contractions didn't stop. By 10:00 they were quite painful and seemed to be really regular, so I started to time them. They were 2 minutes apart and consistent. Brevin was really worried and so he got me some ice water, helped me move into different positions, rubbed my back, pretty much anything we could think of to try to get them to quit, but nothing worked. At 11:45 I finally called my mom and asked her to come stay with the girls while we went to the hospital. When we got to the hospital I was dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. The nurse had me walk the halls for about an hour and then we would see if anything had changed. After the first hour, no change. Second hour, no change. So, then they called my doctor to see what she wanted them to do. She wanted me to get a morphine shot to see if I could get some rest and/or stop the contractions that way. So, at 3:00AM I got the morphine shot and it did absolutely NOTHING. It made me really groggy, but I still couldn't sleep because I could still feel my, by this time, very STRONG contractions. So, I lied in bed for a few hours to let the morphine wear off and then at about 6:30AM was able to get up and walk again. At 7:00 my doctor finally showed up to give me some options because I was still dilated to a 3. She told me that I had three options: 1) Go home. 2) Break my water and see what happens. 3) Have a C-section.
I definitely did NOT want to go home and Brevin was nervous about me going home as well because I was already contracting every 2 minutes, so when was I supposed to go back?? I liked my second option, but if they broke my water and nothing happened then I would have to have a C-section. Option 3 was completely out of question! I was NOT going to have a C-section or OPT in for one! So, after talking about it for a little bit, we decided that we would break my water and see what happened. So, at 7:15 they broke my water. At 7:45 I finally made some progress and was at a 4...YAY!! I labored for a few hours and at around 12:45 was at a 5 and in a LOT of pain, so opted for an epidural. After that was in, my doctor decided to give me a low dose of pitocin to see if it would help me go a little bit faster. I was SO tired and extremely hungry by this time, so Brevin and I were both very grateful for that small gesture! :) At 2:15 the nurse came in to check me and Brevin stepped out of the room to get some air and relieve himself of the claustrophobic atmosphere of the Delivery Room. The nurse smiled and very enthusiastically said, "You are fully dilated!! Let's get this baby delivered!" I had a couple of different thoughts to that comment: 1) Heck yes! Let's get this baby out of me so I can eat and sleep!! 2) Wait! No! My husband just left the room and who knows when he will be back! He didn't take his cell phone with him! How am I going to get ahold of him to get him here?! Thankfully, Brevin didn't stay away for too long and him and the doctor showed up at about the same time. I pushed for about 10 minutes and at 2:45 PM on June 18th Chett Eugene White was born. 7lb 7oz, 21 1/4inches of pure perfection!

He had such a dainty little cry that was quite high-pitched! Right after he was born the girls came into the room and got to hold him. They were SO great with him and SO excited to finally meet the baby that had been hoarding mom's lap space for the past 5 months!

That evening we had a lot of visitors! (We didn't get pictures with everyone.)

Brevin and the girls went home to have a daddy/daughter night and get some good rest. We thought that Aspen would want to stay home from school the next day to see Chett again, but she wanted to go to school to tell her teacher and all of her friends about her new baby brother. So, Brevin and Hadley came back to the hospital to keep me company.

To my great surprise, my doctor came in that morning and asked me if I wanted to go home that day and that she would get everything arranged so that it could happen! I had to stay at the hospital until at least 2:45 so that Chett could get his newborn screen done (which can't be done until they are 24 hours old) and get his circumcision done and I could get all the paperwork done and filled out. So, at about 3:30 on the 19th we were headed home! I couldn't believe how fast they discharged both of us! It was so great though!

All dressed and ready for his pictures!!

YAY!!! We are going home!!

First day at church. Isn't my little tie onesie cute?!

Just had a bath and wide awake!!

May 2012

This month has been quite a lot of fun! We started off the month by going to the Kansas City Temple Dedication. It was a wonderful experience! We had quite the group go to KC with us: Brevin, me, and the kids, Jared & Mary and their kids, Mom & Barry, Dustin & Carolina and Jude, Dan & Erin and their kids, and Ashley and her kids!
The day before the dedication we went to the Cultural Celebration where the youth in the temple district were performing, Jenessa and Kelsey included. The Celebration was absolutely magical! The way everything came together and the presence of the spirit with so many people was just amazing! All of the kids performing did an awesome job!
Then, for the dedication we went to the stake center that is right next door to the temple. There was a little bit of bad weather so our broadcast cut out a little bit, but overall it was still great!
I almost forgot...before the cultural celebration we had the option to either go to Adam-Ondi-Ahman or go to the zoo. Brevin and I and Mary and Jared decided it would be best for our kids to go to the zoo. It was a ton of fun and I am glad we decided to do that instead of the other. Before we got to the zoo that morning Brevin and I had decided that, because of my elevated blood pressure and sore hips I would be renting a motorized scooter at the zoo. And that is just what I did!

Go ahead and laugh...I sure did!!
The kids took turns riding with me and Brevin pulled the wagon. At one point we were walking from the Africa side of the zoo back to the entrance and Brevin hopped on the back of the scooter and I pulled all of us (Me, Brevin, Aspen, Hadley, Spencer, and the wagon)!

The girls' favorite exhibit at the zoo now is the polar bears. The exhibit wasn't quite finished the last time we went, so that was a lot of fun to see.

This month Aspen started T-ball! Brevin and all the kids had a blast playing in Grandma and Grandpa Johnson's front yard.

Her first game was this month and she was SO EXCITED to go! She is quite a good little ball player! Both Brevin and I were quite impressed at her skills!

One Saturday while Brevin was mowing the lawn he found a baby rabbit. He caught the little guy and brought him in the house for the girls to see. Of course, the girls wanted to keep him. So, we found a box and some food for him and set him on the back porch. When he started to get more comfortable with his surroundings, the girls wanted to hold him. So, they took turns and were doing so well with being gentle and staying seated while holding him. Then, Hadley decided she was tired of sitting down with the bunny and ended up dropping him, several times, on the concrete, on his head! Needless to say that poor little bunny had some problems after Hadley was through with him. Brevin decided that it was probably best for the little guy if we let him go. The girls were devastated, of course! Hopefully the little guy survived! So, now we can say we had a pet bunny...for a whole 4 hours! LOL!!!

Another day we were outside in the backyard with the girls and all of a sudden we heard this crazy sound. We couldn't quite figure out what it was. Car wreck? No, not loud enough. Street sweeper? No, the sound wasn't right. Blow torch? That could be it, but why in the world would anyone have a blow torch in our neighborhood?! And then we saw it...

A hot air balloon!!!

I couldn't believe how fast that thing could move!

Then, on another Saturday I helped my mom throw a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Mary. We had it at Mom's house. It was a lot of fun! I think everyone had a blast and Mary got a BUNCH of clothes for their coming little princess!

The 27th was Jenessa's birthday. So, we all got together for breakfast before church to celebrate with her. Yes, we even had cake after breakfast...LOL!

Then, for Memorial Day, the White clan all got together at Indian Creek for a picnic. We got there at about 8:30 that morning and didn't head out for home untill at least 4:30! It was so much fun though! We swam in the creek, ate lunch, went fishing, floated down the creek, hiked to a broken down bridge and swam there, played T-ball, chased the animals, and all kinds of other stuff!

Oh, and Jordan got his mission call!

If you didn't quite catch that, he is called to the Salt Lake City, South Mission. He reports to the MTC on August 29th. We are all so excited for him!

That's pretty much it for this month. Here are some random pictures for you to enjoy...
