December 2012

Oh boy! It’s December! December is CrAzY around here!! To start off, Aspen lost another tooth! This is the second one she has lost. She was eating breakfast one morning and it got really loose from biting down on a piece of cereal and she was worried about it, so I grabbed a paper towel and wrapped it around the tooth and gave it a good yank.

At first, she didn’t know what to think about that, but then she thought it was pretty cool that she lost another one. I didn’t want her to go to school and have it fall out at lunch or her swallow it or something! I think it was less traumatic this way…at least I hope!

Then we had Brevin’s 31st birthday. He isn’t too fond of birthdays anymore, so it was pretty low-key. The girls and I made a cake, his parents and my parents came over, and that was about it. (Gotta love birthdays after the age of about 16…LOL!)

Then 2 weeks later we had Aspen’s birthday. I can’t believe she is 6 already!! Where in the world does time go?! She invited friends from school to her party and then of course she wanted the whole family there, so our house was BUSY that night! She is all about the new Disney princess, Merida, so I made her a Brave cake.

We had cake and ice cream and then she had a sleepover with some of her cousins. She also got to go shopping for her present from Mom and Dad, which she thought was just AWESOME. She had a lot of fun at her party and is already planning what she wants to do next year! These are the pictures that got taken of her party with her camera:

After the sleepover, we took the cousins home and the girls crashed in the car on the way back home. They are so funny!

The Sunday after her party, we went over to Grandma Johnson’s for a birthday dinner for Aspen and Dustin (they share a birthday).

Chett turned 6 months this month. He is such a little chunk! He only weighs 5 pounds less than his cousin, Kyler, who is 9 months older than Chett! He has started to try to sit up on his own and is doing good with getting around on the floor by either rolling over or scooting himself backward on his tummy. He is such a little cutie! We all love to make him laugh and smile. He has been a wonderful blessing to our family.

We took the kids early in the month to go see Santa at the mall and it turned out GREAT! All the kids were smiling, no tears, and we got an AWESOME picture! Couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out!

Then we had our Christmas party with the White family. The kids all got new jammies and Santa came to the house and handed out presents. (Santa was Grandpa Johnson…SHhh…don’t tell the kids! ;) )

Then on Christmas Eve we didn't have much to do, so I made the girls some "reindeer food" and had them go spread it around in the yard so the reindeer would for sure come to our house that night :) They LOVED it!!

Then on Christmas morning after we opened our presents at home, we all went to the Johnson Christmas get-together. The girls got some cooking utensils and a cookbook. They are so excited to use them every day with their Easy Bake Oven they got (late cuz we forgot to go pick it up from Walmart) from Mom and Dad for Christmas.

They also each got a new necklace and earrings to match. (Don't know why I didn't get Aspen's picture...?)

And a Barbie car to share.

And new jammies too (I am losing my mind! Where is Hadley's picture??!!?!)

Chett got bedding for his crib. (YAY!!!)

He had no clue what to do with the wrapping paper...LOL!

He got a new rattle/chewy/noise toy too.

And some clothes.

The girls just HAD to try out their new cooking utensils!

We had a great Christmas just spending time with each other and watching how happy our kids are when we are all together.

For New Years we had made plans to go to a friend’s house for a party, but then decided we wanted to spend the time together as a family instead of sending them to grandma’s house again. But, those plans changed yet again when our water heater went out on New Year’s Eve morning…while I was in the shower! That was an experience I will be happy if I never have to experience again! That was the coldest water I have ever been in! BRRRrrrrRRRR! So, we spent New Year’s Eve all day trying to fix, and then eventually replacing, our water heater. We ended up needing more from Lowe’s than we had initially thought so we had to make one last (very hopeful that we remembered everything correctly) run to Lowe’s with only 30 minutes left until they closed for New Year’s…it was so nerve wracking!!! Luckily, we got everything that we needed and got it installed and working. We ended up going to see grandparents simply because we felt bad for the kids having to just sit at the house and do absolutely NOTHING for New Year's. So, we got  home at about 11:40 so we put the kids to bed and then had a glass of sparkling grape juice and went to bed. La dee freaking dah! Eventually we will have a New Year’s tradition. Hopefully it is nothing like this past one! Here’s to 2013 being a great year filled with more quality family time and less stress!!

 Random pictures from the month:

Chetts favorite things: Sleeping, watching TV, looking in the mirror, plastic pop bottles (especially the Mountain Dew ones), and talking to cousin Jade (or anyone else that will jabber back).

Oh, and snuggling with Daddy.

This was Chett intrigued by the phone while I was talking to Brevin on speaker phone:
