November 2011

So, I am a little late getting the post up this month but it’s the Christmas season…what do you expect?! Anyways, once again not a whole lot has gone on this month. We are becoming quite the boring family :) That, or I am just a slacker at doing things with my kids and actually taking pictures of it…very possible!

Youth rifle deer season started off this month. Brevin took Keaton out hunting on opening day and what do you know….they got one!

Just as Brevin decided it was about time to leave, out popped a buck! Brevin was awfully proud of Keaton (and himself :)).

I did a craft show this month in Neosho for my scarves. I think I am done with trying to sell those stupid things! I am tired of spending time and money on making the things and then only selling 4…barely enough to cover the cost of the booth! So, the scarves and hats are in a box in the attic and they will stay there until I decide to donate them to somewhere or by some miracle someone decides to buy some of them. FRUSTRATING!!

We had a little bit of a hiccup this month with our sewer system. We are connected to city sewer, but we have a sewer lift because Joplin city sewer is up the hill in our backyard and because of the grade of the hill it has to be pumped up there…well, our pump went out. So, we had about a week where we couldn’t flush the toilets, run water, do ANYTHING without having to go out and manually pump out the hole in the backyard so we didn’t have a sewer overflow. So, we called the city of Joplin and a plumber and both of them just told us to hook into the new Duquesne city sewer that they put in along the side of our house that goes downhill and would be perfect for us and easy to tap into. So, the plumber came and dug the hole (which he wasn’t supposed to do) and then went to Duquesne city to get his permit to do the digging (which should have been done FIRST) and they wouldn’t give it to him. So, he calls me to have me go over to the office to straighten everything out. Come to find out it will cost us $500 to tap into Duquesne city sewer and then (because we are “out of town”) another $75 a month on TOP of our current sewer bill for a usage fee!! So, we told the plumber to leave, replaced the pump, and are slowly filling in the big old hole in our backyard by hand. It was very stressful and ended up costing us a whopping $1200 to fix, but all is better now and we are back to normal. Thank goodness!!

We had Thanksgiving at Brevin’s parents house this year. Not everyone was able to make it, but it was a TON of fun!! Of course the food was delicious! We played a game after dinner (What’s Yours Like?) with everyone….that is the most fun I have had playing a game with a group of people in a LONG time! We were all laughing so hard by the end of the game that my side hurt and I had tears streaming down my face! The kids had fun playing together and, of course, they didn’t want to go home yet so they asked to have sleepovers. Aspen wanted to sleep over at Kailey’s house and Kaleb wanted to sleep at Hadley’s house. We weren’t sure at first how having Kaleb sleep over was going to work out, but they had a BLAST together! I was so surprised at how well those two went to sleep! We put them in Aspen’s bed together since they wouldn’t fit in Hadley’s bed.

Not an extremely eventful month, but not boring by any means! Hopefully I will have more pictures next month. Do I say that every month? :)

October 2011

After I posted last month we had two new cousins join the family! I planned on editing last months post to add it to the end, but that is such a pain in the butt! So, I am putting them first this month...
Kyler was born on September 28th. He is such a little cutie! He looks just like his big brother Keaton!
Look at that face!
Brevin, the kids and I were all at the hospital when he was born. The girls thought that it was so cool to be able to see him right after he was born. They haven't stopped talking about wanting a little brother since!
Noah was born on October 14th. We went and saw him a few days after he was born. He is so teensie tiny! He has the cutest little knobby knees! (Picture to come soon)
Other than the new babies, Maple Leaf, and Halloween this month has been pretty boring! I even forgot to take pictures at Maple Leaf!! :(
Two of my sister-in-laws and I had a craft booth at Maple Leaf this year. We didn't do as well as we thought we would so I don't think I am going to do that booth again. I made some fleece hats to match my scarves and am doing another craft show in Neosho next month, so hopefully that goes better than Maple Leaf did!
For Halloween this year we dressed up as a family. The girls thought that it was pretty cool that we dressed up too and we had a blast doing it! The original plan was to do the Toy Story crew (Brevin as Woody, Me as Bo Peep, Aspen as Jesse, and Hadley as Mrs. Potato Head) but we couldn't find a modest Bo Peep for me. So, we resorted to the Super Mario crew:
Everyone we saw just loved our costumes, but for some reason they all laughed histerically at my costume...what's wrong with a woman in a fake moustache?!? I even won the "Best Adult Women's Costume" prize at our ward Halloween party!
Saturday night before Halloween we carved pumpkins. It was a lot of fun and the girls thought it was pretty cool.
Aspen made a cat.
Hadley made a "Party Bat" as she called it.
Mom's was a witch on a broomstick.
Dad's was a silly face.
That's all for this month. Hopefully next month will have more pictures and more events!

September 2011

This month has actually been a lot of fun! For Labor Day weekend (Friday) the White family went to the city park in Noel for some fun in the sun. We swam in the river and played on the playground. It was a lot of fun. The girls love swimming and hanging out with cousins! This is at lunch at Arby's before the picnic...
Pictures of the picnic:
Then, on Saturday, Brevin and I took the girls to a drive-through safari in Arkansas. They had a BLAST and so did Brevin and I! We will definitely be going back here!
They have a walk-through area where you get to feed all sorts of different animals.
Donkeys
Goats
Turtles
Kangaroos
All sorts of monkeys!
Baby camels
This spider monkey was so fun! It would run around it's cage and go down the slide and was so interactive with everyone there!
There was another spider monkey there that was out on a leash. Her name was Chloe. She jumped on Brevin and Aspen and Hadley (while Brevin was holding her). She tried to reach into my pocket to see what she could find. She also tried to eat the buttons on Hadley's pants - Hadley freaked out of course!
They even had baby baboons that you could go into the cage with and hold. You had to be 14 or older though to hold them.
There were camels EVERYWHERE!
We even found Sid the Sloth!
Chickens
Emus
The girls thought going into the cage with the kangaroos was awesome!
Llamas
Not sure what this is...yak maybe??
Then on to the drive-through part of the park...
Yes, we were technically supposed to keep our windows up and not feed the animals....but no one else was following the rules! Did we give in to peer pressure...yes, yes we did.
A baby zebra!!! How precious!!
We got up close and personal with a few camels along the way!
Can you believe the size of these horns!?!
Brevin got an extreme close-up with this white buffalo. I never knew that white buffalo existed?!
The girls were so excited to finally find the hippo! She even passed gas when we were pulling away and the girls thought it was hillarious to see the bubbles in the water.
This rhino was HUGE!!!
The girls thought the monkeys with the red butts were so funny!
Feeding the spider monkey ice...
It was an awesome day at the "zoo"! We spent 6 hours here this day and could have stayed much longer! It was so much fun!

One evening we decided that after dinner it would be fun to go out on the back patio and have smores. They were delicious! Smores with cinnamon graham crackers are absolutely DIVINE!

The girls and I went to the mall with my mom one Friday after daycare left and ran into my brother and his wife and kids there and they jumped on the “Spider Trampolines”. After they were done and told me how much it was for their whole family to do it I thought that it would be fun for the girls, Brevin, and I to do it too. So, I got on the phone and got Brevin over to the mall and we had a go at it too. It was SO much fun! It really is quite the workout though! Aspen was so brave and did some back flips! She was so proud of herself!
Hadley getting ready to jump:
Hadley up in the air. It was SO hard to get good pictures of this!

Aspen jumping:
Brevin mid-backflip:
Brevin and Aspen jumping at the same time (Aspen is up and Brevin is down):

This month started deer hunting season (bow) and Brevin got one! His very first deer EVER and with a bow! I was definitely proud of him, but I think he might have been a little more proud of himself ;)
Other than that, nothing much else has been going on. Next month is Maple Leaf Festival and Halloween…YAY
